In an often divided world, sports is a unique and important connective tissue that binds people together, both across and within societies.
As the forums that unite people, regardless of background or beliefs, it is hard to think of many as powerful as the stadiums multitude of people fill to cheer their favorite teams and players, or the fields where sports enthusiasts play together for pleasure and exercise.
In a way of further uniting and spotting talents across the student community, BlueCrest University College, one of the leading technology universities in Liberia has launched a sporting tournament called “Let’s make Liberia great (LMLG)”.
The tournament according to the President of the institution is an annual event that is gear towards giving rich and elevated opportunity to all aspiring school children to demonstrate their talents in the high-profile sports discipline of Liberia, football.
Dr. Umesh Neelakantan said the event will see 32 high schools from across the country converge at the famous Invincible Sports Park in Monrovia from the 1st to 14th of November 2022 for the sporting activity.
Dr. Neelakantan made the disclosure at a press conference Friday, July 29 in Congo Town, when he told newsmen that BlueCrest Liberia has evolved this platform to give rich and elevated opportunity to all aspiring school children to show case their spirited talents in the high-profile sports discipline of Liberia –Football.
He noted that football in Liberia maintains very close status to the heart of every citizen of the country and the budding youngsters, mentioning that the children have inherited the heritage and legacy of the game in full.
BlueCrest is also very closely governed through its mission of higher education contribution to the citizens of this blessed country. With an expanded thought of perspectives, the institution has a progressive mindset of integrating its mission with the Pro-poor Agenda for Propensity and Development (PAPD) of the CDC-lead government, he added.
“As a mark of absolute respect to the government’s established interventions for different disciplines of growth and development, Bluecrest feels excited to contribute through its noble platform “Let’s make Liberia great.”
Speaking further he expressed that “Let’s make Liberia great” is a title recognized with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR Copyright) from IPR office of the republic of Liberia.
Giving more insight about the tournament, the BlueCrest Chief Executive narrated that the initiative out top every nook and cranny of the country, stressing that the institution has great vivid and explicit expectation of participations from 32 schools in the country and great awards are in- store for school children.
First place winner, according to Dr. Neelakantan, will be given cash price of two thousand United States dollars (2,000) with a great trophy, while the runner-up will receive cash award of one thousand United States dollars (1,000) with the runner-up trophy.
Other prizes to include the golden boot for best goal scorer, best goalkeeper, and as well as,, the best dribbler, best ethical football team and many others.
