The BlueCrest University College Liberia has launched what it called “Let’s Make Liberia Great”, a social enlightenment sporting initiative for school going kids, to ensure that their potential talents are showcase and promoted, with 16 schools from across Montsertado and Margibi Counties participating.
Sport as the forum that unite people, regardless of background or beliefs, it is hard to think of many as powerful as the stadiums multitude of people fill to cheer their favorite teams and players, or the fields where sports enthusiasm play together for pleasure and exercise.
In a way of further uniting and spotting talents across the student community, BlueCrest University College, one of the leading technology universities in Liberia on November 1,2022 at the Invisible Park in the suburb of Airfield Community, officially launched the 1st sporting tournament called “Let’s make Liberia great (LMLG) football cup 2022.
The tournament according to the President of the institution is an annual event that is gear towards giving rich and elevated opportunity to all aspiring school children to demonstrate their talents in the high-profile sports discipline of Liberia, football.
Some of the participating schools to include, Haywood Institute, Monrovia College, Worldwide Mission School, William VS Tubman High School, Carver Mission Academy, RC Lawson Institute among others.
Speaking during the launch, Dr. Umesh Neelakantan indicated that even though sports is an enthusiasm game, but the importance of the initiative is to promote the youthful generation talents that through it They can make Liberia great.
Serving as Chief launcher, the India Ambassador to Liberia H.E Pradip Kumar Yadav expressed immense pleasure as Ambassador of India to inaugurates the sporting initiative for the young people of Liberia and congratulated the BlueCrest University College Liberia for organizing such tournament for school level promising players of Liberia.
He said as the football World Cup is about to commence this month, he hope to see some promising players of the tournament play in the world cup and other global sporting tournament in the future, adding Liberia produced one of the greatest players in the world, who is the current President of the country, Dr. Geroge Manneh Weah, who is an inspiration to Liberian young footballers.
He praised BlueCrest University College for contributing towards Liberia’s education development – providing undergraduate degree, diploma, certificate in information technology and other disciplines since 2014. The beneficiaries, according to him are not only Liberians but other country Nationals as well.
“We wish the players the best and we want them to know that winning and losing is part of the game. I want you to maintain the good sportsmanship and fair play”, said Amb. Pradip Kumar Yadav as he urged all players to make maximum of the opportunity that BlueCrest has given them.
