The ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), to include the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Liberia People’s Democratic Party (LPDP), and the National Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Mulbah Morlu has said if former Vice President and Standard Bearer of the Unity Party Joseph Nyuma Boakai contest the presidency in the upcoming general and legislative elections he would constitute no match for President George Manneh Weah.
He said the re-election of President Weah is necessitated by the astronomical success in six years which provides the hub for another term, saying the CDC Standard Bearer is able to complete the job that he has started, realizing that it is only the people that can re-elect CDC government.
“We may only appeal to the consciences of the people, they see the wide development paradigm under this government. They know that George Weah deserves a second term. Boakai may not even run for the presidency in 2023. Now it remains unmistakable that should he run he constitutes no match for the heavy weight of His Excellency George Manneh Weah, who came and saw and conquered. So for us, we have no fear of anybody.
On Wednesday, 20 of July 2022, the Coalition for Democratic Change called a press conference at its national party headquarters to announce a scheduled mass gathering at the Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville to petition President Manneh Weah for the second term. The event is scheduled to take place on December 17, 2022.
He named the Minister of States for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel Falo McGill as Chairman of the Steering Committee, Representative Thomas Fallah as Co-Chair for Operation, while Vakpa B. Williams will serve as Co-Chair for Administration. He said the Committee will be given the task to rally Cdcians for the 17 of December, mentioning that what is being announced is a skeleton and in the coming days a full structure will be announced.
Mr. Morlu stressed that the rally is a Coalition program, to include the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Liberia People’s Democratic Party (LPDP), and the National Patriotic Party (NPP), also supported by seven collaborating political parties that enjoined their strength with the CDC, will be working to ensure the success of this process.
“We have come to announce an important date that each and everyone of you partisans must circle on your respective calendars. On the 17th of December 2022 at the Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, there is going to be a political reality of mass gathering of the popular peoples to partition for the second term the President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency George Manneh Weah, Standard Bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change.
“We have come to plead with our people that the time is here to repeat history to redo what was done in five years. I am convenced that if elections that if today was elections, George Weah who won 14 counties in 2017 would win 15 counties in any election today or tomorrow. I do not think that anyone would want to take a debate with this conviction because of recent statistics displayed in Lofa County” Mr. Morlu at the press briefing.
According to tue CDC Chairman George Manneh Weah was anointed for this dispensation so no wonder in the midst of the vast challenges that he inherited, he has brought economic stability, especially when the exchange rate was skyrocketing just after he became President. It was not a problem he created but was able to solve the problem by stabilizing the exchange of Liberian dollars against the US dollars.
Speaking further he said, “Don’t forget Mr. Weah has done what no President has done, there is nothing compare to freedom of speech in the nation’s democracy regardless of the fight that is reprehensible to exploit that democratic space to disrespect and insults nevertheless there is still the existence of free speech made possible by his Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah,”
Continuing he further said to shift Liberia from where it has been for 174 or 175 years required the patience of the people, mentioning that everything is not perfect, there are still challenges, but sometimes one must pay a price to achieve a national development objectives. He said the country is almost there, accounting from the next year of this government existence there are six more years to arrive there.
He said what President Weah has done, is that he has constructed the foundation and by the time six year is completed he would have successfully laid the foundation for the national development priorities of the country.
The next six more years, according to Mr. Morlu is to enable to build upon the foundation that he has erected. The opportunity that the party has come to ask the citizens to grant the CDC a second six years with the people support in 2024 with George Manneh Weah elected as Liberia’s President in his second term, to continue the good work that he has started.
Since the foundation of Liberia no political party has shown popular people support like the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change. December 17 is the date that will transform Montserrado blue, he added.
Commenting on the just-ended Lofa County Senatorial By-election, Chairman Morlu said Cllr. Senator Joseph K. Jallah is a political reformist, who he said was elected to help Boakai, because across Lofa County need development, to include Foya, Kolahun, Zorzor among others.
Cllr. Jallah is Senator for the entire Lofa County and I think uncle Boakai is happy that one of the nephews has come to give him a respectable retirement from politics, he emphasized.
He explained that there is a plan tour that is being organized led by the Senator and assisted by Representative Thomas Fallah, who he termed as the morale voice of Lofa County. The victory in Lofa was necessitated by the tremendous development gains being carryout by President Weah and the party is building on the success of the President to win elections.
Also commenting on other national issues, Chairman Morlu urged youths to stay away from illicit drugs addiction and crime and lawlessness.
Touching on the issue of Gender Base Violence, he encouraged those citizens that are prone to violating the rights of women, to respect the right of a girl child, respect the right of women.
