The Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency and Initiative (LEITI) has ended a daylong stakeholders meeting with CSOs, Youth and media personnel in Gbarnga, Bong County.
LEITI, Liberia industries advocate for the country natural resources understanding has over the years conducted several training for the importance of citizens understanding on the usage of Liberia natural resources.
Held under the theme “Enchanting Citizens Understanding On The Benefits Of Natural Resources”, the meeting brought together several Civil Society actors, youth and the media together.
Giving the importance of the meeting the regional manager of Open Ownership, Favour Ime, said the meeting was meant for participants to understand the importance of natural resources in Liberia.
She said the reason while Africa is been described as the richest continent in the world but poor in developments it derived from the election of corrupt officials.
She said if Africa much be Develop the electing and appointment of criminals in both private and public Sectors must be curtail.
According to madam Ime Open Ownership is currently working in one hundred and thirteen countries as means of fighting corruption in Africa and the world at large.
Open Ownership Regional Manager for the African region who have traveled in more than ten different countries around the world said Africa is blessed with lots of opportunities but their leaders are the problem to their Developments.
At the end of the daylong stakeholders meeting, some of the participants described the day as eyes opener and promised to serve as Ambassadors for accountability and transparency in their communities.
The participants said the one day meeting was educative, With a call on the Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and Open Ownership to continue their awareness program across the country.
