Former Maryland County Senator John A. Ballout jr., has blasted the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change for what he termed as “cosmetic development, economic backwardness, and abject poverty.’’
In the face of continuing criticism of the government, he said his ambition for the presidency of Liberia will be made known to the public in coming weeks, and will be about emancipating Liberia and Liberians from backwardness.
Ballout indicated that Liberians are experiencing excruciating hardship at the hand of the Coalition for Democracy change regime.
The former lawmaker made the statement during an interview at his Maryland Guest House in Sinkor on Monday, August 22, 2022. He said his interest comes on the heels of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) failure to unite and fight for the redemption of the country.
“The question about if I want to be president or not will be address in a week or two from now. However, what I can say is that I am thinking about Liberia and Liberians. I had my time to run behind Amb. Joseph Boakai, Benouna Urey, and Mr. Alexander B. Cummings. In the coming few days, they will understand that there are more people in this country and not just them.
“And the discussion will be elevated to the point to vote the consciousness into rethinking the strategy to unite the CPP. I am not thinking CDC, CPP rather I am thinking Liberia’’ Senator Ballout
The former UP stalwart further indicated that his dissatisfaction and disappointment in the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) continue to grow every day, because of how they dumped the hope and aspiration of the Liberian people who believe in them sorely and nothing has change as a way of coming together.
According to him, the CPP was much closer in achieving the presidency when they broke away due to their failure to put aside their selfishness and greed therefore, this is something that we have to restore, he noted.
‘’I am hearing that they are having agreements that we will approach this election independently and whose ever get to the runoff the other will support. I see that as a serious political fun because I have not heard any political consensus more selfish than these ones.”
The discussion about coming together during the runoff, according to Mr. Ballout, will be uncompromised, selfishless, and patriotic but said he do not see that happening.
Mr. Ballout believes that if the Unity Party, Alternative National Congress and Liberty Party field candidates against one anotherr, CDC will defeat them like it was done recently in Lofa County
