The ongoing citizen engagement by opposition Vision for Liberia Transformation Party (VOLT) Political leader Dr. Jeremiah Z. Whapoe across Liberia was taken to Neimassa Clan to generate more support as his presidential ambition received huge support from the citizens of Jenewonde Town, Grand Cape Mount County on Saturday, 10th of December 2022, as they vowed to vote him in 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

Dr. Whapoe and entourage including Friends of Dr. Whapoe were welcomed to the town and then escorted to the town hall by several women and youth where the engagement program was held, with chiefs, religious leaders, as well as women and youth leaders, and head of several organizations in attendance.

In his welcoming remarks, the town chief of Jenewonde, Momo Massaly welcomed Dr. Whapoe and entourage. He appreciated him for his engagement with them, saying we are here for you and we know you will be there for us. We have heard more good things about you here. And we know you have come to make us benefit from those good things you are doing across the country, especially your vision for agriculture.

In separate remarks, the spokespersons for the elders and religious leaders, and various groupings expressed their commitment to support and ensure that Dr. Whapoe is elected next president of Liberia in the upcoming 2023 elections.

“You are the first presidential aspirant to come here. And because you have come we will stand by you in the coming election. When we say we are for you, we are for you. We will work with you. We believe in agriculture and believe that through agriculture we can develop our lives”,  said Jenneh Massaly, Secretary General of the United Women for Self Help.

Jebbeh Sannah, former town chief of Jenewonde said, “You are the kind of person that we want, because we tire with people that will just bring us one bag of rice sometimes we share and some people can’t get. When we elect them at the end of the day they abandon us. But because you have come with your vision for agriculture, we will support you to help us feed ourselves, she remarked.

In response, presidential aspirant Dr. Jeremiah Whapoe expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him and entourage as he firstly made it known to the citizens of Jenewonde town that he will contest for the president of the Republic of Liberia in the fast-approaching 2023 general election.

He asked the citizens of the town to support him, he assured them of his sincere commitment to transform Liberia through this vision that he believes machinery agriculture activities is the solution to the suffering of the people

He vowed to revive the ailing economy, create job opportunities for the thousands of unemployed, especially women and youths, adding that he would work to alleviate the massive suffering and extreme poverty, through creations of jobs and opportunities, saying everybody who has land and want to make make farm will benefit from my government, he told the gathering.

“I want to make sure to take you out of poverty. The main thing that is causing poverty is because we don’t produce the food we eat. Because of hardship, we are not living the kind of life we want to live. I know what the women and young people are going through, and it is my responsibility to relieve you from the problem you are face with, said Dr. Whapoe.

I believe we can solve this poverty problem through agriculture. I want to work with you so you can feed yourself. Everybody that has land and want to make farm you will benefit from my government. This, I believe we will be able to take care of our families and live a better life, the VOLT Political leader said.
