Appointed Head coach Ansu Keita and technical staff have called-up 38 players for a three-day training session ahead of the 2022 West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone ‘A’ Nations Cup finals in Monrovia.
The players will begin training at the Tusa field at 4:00PM on 5 August.
The sessions will continue at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) sports complex practice pitch at 8:00AM on 6-7 August.
The players, who are from Montserrado, Margibi, Grand Bassa and River Cess Counties, were selected following several trials.
Twenty-five (25) players will move to camp at the George Weah technical staff on 8 August.
Hosts Liberia, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Mali and Gambia will compete in a round robin from 18-20 August.
One team will emerge as champions while the losers from the semis will clash in a play-off.
WAFU competitions Abdoulaye Cisse was in Monrovia to assess Liberia’s preparations early July.
The men’s finals will coincide with the hosting of the women’s CAF Champions League qualifiers for WAFU Zone ‘A’ from 17-21 August.
Liberia lost 5-3 to Guinea on 21 May, defeated Sierra Leone 5-1 on 22 May and drew 1-1 with Mali on 23 May at the 2021 finals in Guinea..
The 2018 WAFU men’s under-20 Nations Cup finals was held in Liberia from 24 April to 5 May.
Gambia defeated Liberia 2-1 at the SKD sports complex in Paynesville.
