At long last, The Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism reporters Networks (MIRNET) elected its first democratic officials on Friday, January 27, 2023.
Whereas Morris Wlehtee of Ok FM was elected as Chair, Cynthia Quenesier of Hot Pepper news Paper as Co-Chair, and Kruah Thompson of the truly independent New Dawn News Paper as Secretary General.
This is the first time the group has been governed by constitutionally elected officers to steer the affairs of the reporters assigned to the ministry of information culture affairs and tourism (MICAT) for the next two years.
Speaking in an interview, the newly elected chairman Morris Wlehtee, calls for togetherness to unite those who lost the election and to seek the interest of the Network.
He wants to have a cordial relationship with the PUL and other auxiliary Media groupings to recognize the leadership as they stir the affairs of the reporter at MICAT.
For his part, the secretary general elects Kruah Thompson and expresses heartfelt thanks to those people who have confidence in electing him.
He appreciated his professional colleague who came forward to assist with their campaign, “We could not have succeeded without you.”
“Many of you spent hundreds of hours contributing to the campaign, and I sincerely thank each of you. The essence of great leadership is influencing, not authority. I look forward to working with you as a team to advance issues of importance to our Networks.” he noted.
He appreciates those candidates who ran and lost the election, hoping that they work together to encourage togetherness as they focus.
Meanwhile, chairman-elect Morris Wlehtee won Barclay Karneh with 38 to 16, vice chair Cynthia won with 28 to 19 while S.G elects Kruah Thompson won Rancy 42 to 1 vote respectively.
