The Special Taskforce setup by the Ministry of Education (MoE) for the enforcement of school permit regulations and acceptable tuition fees has finally embarked on inspection exercise in Montserrado County.
The team led by the Acting Education Minister, Latim Da-Thong and the team’s focal person; Abdallah Housseini on Friday visited five high schools.
The schools include Jones Christian Academy, Living Water Baptist School System, Haywood Mission Institute, Open Bible Standard School System and Heritage International Leadership Academy.
During the day-one exercise, Minister Da-Thong warned school administrators, especially those observed to not be in full compliance with the MOE’s regulations to desist.
He also made a specific emphasis on the hike in tuition for academic year 2022/2023 by the Open Bible Standard School System for its night session, noting that the return of the Special Taskforce will ensure that the school’s administration provides all justifiable reasons or risk further action.
The Acting MoE Boss expressed satisfaction in the administration of Jones Christian Academy for being in possession of its active school permit and a better fee charged for the new academic year.
Minister Latim Da-Thong lauded the head of the Special Taskforce, Abdallah Housseini and his team members, including the media for the successful climax of the day one exercise, expressing explicit confidence in the team that it will deliver through a perfect coordination.
Providing updates about day-one exercise, the head of the Special Taskforce, Abdallah Housseini said during the process, it was established that some schools are yet to have their active school permits.
He believes that the Ministry of Education has to do more in ensuring that schools across the country beginning with Montserrado comply with the MOE’s mandate.
Mr. Housseini further assured that the team will be more forceful and robust in ensuing full adherence to the school permit regulations and tuition fee standards. He encouraged both public and private schools to provide Liberian students the necessary educational materials and affordable services in support of quality education in Liberia.
