Liberian leader George Manneh Weah on monday, August 15, 2022, began touring Montserrado County.
The tour is in continuation of his Nationwide Tour which began in February 2021 and covered fourteen of Liberia’s fifteen Counties.
It is reported that due to the President’s international engagements and other domestic obligations have early hindered his planned tour of Montserrado, which should have followed immediately after Lofa County.
The president’s Montserrado County tour which started with District #15 saw scores of supporters of the ruling CDC coveraged at the famous SDA Church in Logan Town within the district.
He visited Electoral Districts 15, 16 and 17 and held meetings with them on day one of his tours.
At the meeting in district #15, Docaus Doe, youth representative, praised the liberian chief executive for his visit and his government for the level of work done within district #15 since the CDC-led government took office in 2018.
“I want to use this time to thank the president for his work in the country including the construction of the Logan Town road, the breaking grounds for the building of a public school in this district”, she said.
she wants the president to work with them to create a one-stop shop in the area for rape victims.
She however informed the chief executive about a petition sent to the 54th legislature about reducing tariffs on pads for women that are brought in the country.
She used the occasion to call on the youth of the district to desist from being influenced by politicians to carry on protests , something she said is not necessary for the development of the district, the country and the community.
The women of the district praised the district representative teaming him as their “King Solomon”.
They however called on the president to support the educational needs of their children as many of them are marketers and single mothers.
Both youth, women and elders of the district pledged their support to the president’s second term bid in 2023.
For his part, the district representative, Abu Kamara, thanked the president for his visit and pledged district #15 support to his second term bid.
” Your Excellency Dr. George M. Weah, the Bard Road medicine , the education medicine, the developmental hero, let me stand on existing protocol to say welcome to our district”.
Representative Kamara among other things, however, called on the president to support the district as it in- backed on building an administrative center (town hall) and children’s playground in the area.
Meanwhile, President Weah thanked the leadership and residents of the district for their warm welcome.
” I have listened to all of you, of whom many are thanking our government for the lever of development we have been carrying on in the country, but we have also come to thank you for giving us the opportunity to sit at the highest seat of the country , the Presidency”, he said .
He however encouraged Liberians to desist from stopping people from performing taxes and not tire them to their profession , adding that ” I was once a footballer now today I am leading as a president of this country , it could be you or any other person”.
On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, the President will stop over in Districts 9, 8 and 7, holding meetings in the Airfield community, Wroto Town, Matadi, Capitol Byepass and West Point.
The tour affords the President the opportunity to interact with citizens and discuss issues confronting their communities. He also used the time to inform Liberians of developments taking place in the country.
