The University of Liberia campus-based Vanguard Students Unification Party (SUP) has vehemently condemned and distances itself from a folly protest at the graduation ceremony of the Stella Maris Polytechnic School on October 28, 2022.
The party said it is constrained to come out with this position in order to clear the airwaves and false insinuation amongst reactionaries trying to link them in such absurdity.
SUP in a press conference Wednesday November 9, 2022, stated that in as much as it is everyone’s right as well as militants of SUP, to freely assemble as provided under article 17, of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia and other local and international protocols to which Liberia is a signatory, they will not protest for personal cost.
“The party as an institution makes the holistic decision to protest in the interest of the masses of our people on truthful issues affecting the youth and student community, not individual selfish naked interest. We’ll never engage in acts detrimental to the Peace and profitability of Students and ordinary people” SUP noted.
SUP calls on Mr. Roosevelt Harvey alias Zara/Roshino, CEO of fraudulent Innovation International Groups of Company LIB LTD, the sole importer of Smirnoff vodka, to refrain from extortion and hand off Mr. Alexander Berrain after misleading the public with information contrary to their legal battle.
On October 28, it was reported by several media that members of the Vanguard Student Unification Party satged protest during the graduation ceremony of Stella Marie Polytechnic University, reported that Mr. Berrain was arrested while the 23rd Graduation Commencement Convocation was being held on allegations of rape and academic malpractice.
But the party said that they didn’t engaged into any protest rather it was a legal battles between Mr. Roosevelt Harvey and Mr. Alexander Berrain, Finance Director of the Stella Maris Polytechnic University that was misinterpreted.
A statement under the signature of Mohammed S. Jalloh, Propaganda Chairman of SUP, said that they have been the only organ in this country since 1970 and is now 52 years struggling for the dignity of mankind irrespective of belief, economic, social, and political persuasion.
Mr. Jalloh further indicated that they will never sit and allow anyone to ruin their hard-earned integrity and the character of others and denial of their fundamental rights.
“Therefore, SUP condemns such outrageous and unnecessary act orchestrated by a few individuals under the instruction of some selfish and needless fanatics to achieve their personal gain at the disservice of hundreds of students. We’re calling on all relevant authorities to probe in thereby fetching Justice”, he said.
The Vanguard Party also, with immediate effect, calls on a pirate and “Yahoo Boy” in Roosevelt Harvey alias Zara/Roshino (CEO of the fraudulent Innovation International Groups of Company LIB LTD, the sole importer of Smirnoff vodka) to abstain from a fleecing fraud and abstain from deceiving the public with information contrary to the legal battle confronted with Mr. Alexander Berrian (Comptroller of Stella Maris Polytechnic University) and him.
He explained that the act of deception and dishonesty continues to victimize many innocent civilians/ Businesspeople and the Vanguard Party will never allow him to succeed in such a dubious endeavor after attempting to deceive and ruin the reputation of the party.
The student’s movement Propaganda Chairman pointed out that the act by Roosevelt Harvey does not only tarnish the image of the Sister University as well as Mr. Berrain, but is an affront to societal growth and a criminal posture.
“We therefore declared Mr. Roosevelt Harvey alias Zara/Roshino and his fraudulent Innovation International Group of Company LIB LTD as persona non grata and are to be named and shamed anywhere seen by SUP militants” he concluded.
